Where did the day go?

Literally.   I don’t know about you, but I was taught the week goes Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, and then starts over.  Well not for us this week.  We had no Feb 2 (no groundhog for us).  We crossed the International Dateline last night so we went to bed on Fri, Feb 1 and got up this morning and it was Sunday Feb 3.  But we won’t watch the Superbowl until Feb 4th.

That’s not our only excitement for the week either.  We were unable to tender into Rarotonga, Cook Islands.  The seas were not cooperating.  So we stopped briefly and then set sail for Auckland.  The Capt. has arranged for us to arrive the evening  before we were scheduled to get there.  Now we will dock around 6:30pm Tues. Feb 5.  This will give us 48 full hours there rather than just two days and 1 night.  Not sure if it will really affect us or not but we shall see.

The sea days continue to be busy with activities.  I have been taking a photography class and learning all about things like White Balance and lighting.  Something that has been on my to-do list for a while so I am happy to have an opportunity to do it.   We also play trivia each day at noon and I have settled into a workout routine in the morning while dad and “c” do school work.  I have also been going to some cooking/health lectures regarding foods and their health benefits- e.g. cinnamon, honey, fruits.  The ship has a full demo cooking kitchen sponsored by Food & Wine.

There are also some really good movies showing while on board:  Fixing the Curve, Pitch Perfect, Loopers, Dark Knight Rises have all been ones I have viewed.  The nice thing is they show them on tv the next day as well.  Plus there is a large library of DVDs to check out for your stateroom.

The evening shows have been quite good too with comedians and musicians.  I have especially  enjoyed the rest AbbaFab (Abba cover group), Celtic Tenors and last night there was a World Championship Ballroom dancing pair.  It’s amazing they can stay on their feet on the moving seas let alone perform the lifts they do.  The ship also brings on local groups when we are in ports for extended periods of time.  We saw a group in Lima and another in Tahiti as I mentioned previously.

Basically there is lots to do each day and keeps up all very busy.
